Due:

Review, Quiz, Ch 8 Review in Google Classroom

Review, Quiz, Ch 8 Review

Happy Monday!

Let's take a quick quiz on Khan so we can put closure to out study of data displays before we get back to math as usual and pick up where we left off before we were so rudely interrupted.

First take a moment to look over the review articles on KHAN to make sure you are ready for your quiz. Then put everything away and title your page Displaying and Comparing Quantitative Data and take your quiz. For this quiz, remember you may only take it TWICE, so put your best work in on your first attempt.

NOW FOR THE FUN- or at least back to reality and daily math class with me as your video host- oh this will be interesting, at least for me so bear with me. For the next two days we will be getting back to where we left off which was at the end of chapter 8. All we have left is a review before the test. I will post a video of guided instruction to help you review each day and then you will have to complete the review and turn it in by taking a photo of it and attaching it to each assignment posted on Google Classroom. IT IS DUE BY 2pm.

IDEALLY, if you have a printer you can print out the review guide and do it directly on there but if not, do not worry you can still do it in your notebook.

Objective: I can display my mastery of reading data displays by successfully completing my quiz.

I can recall and repeat the skills I learned in chapter 8 on slope and graphing linear equations.

Assignments:
1) Khan Quiz
2) watch the video link attached and complete #1-18 of the review.
an answer key is also attached.

If you want access my lessons at any time you can do so my signing up for my class on Educreations. I have attached the directions for doing this and your class code.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

Due:

Histograms and Stem and Leaf Plots in Google Classroom

Histograms and Stem and Leaf Plots

FIRST PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

Since this is our first time using Khan I am still learning as I am sure you are too so bear with me. I noticed yesterday that some people took the quiz multiple times in order to get a more desired result which is great since that tells me you want to succeed. However, in order to be consistent and fair in grading the quizzes, I want to clarify instructions for all quizzes you take on Khan. You MAY attempt the quiz ONLY 2 TIMES, just as I would allow for a requiz in class. If you attempt it twice however, just as in class the second score does not replace the first score, so if you score a 100% on the second attempt- the REQUIZ -you will not receive a grade of 100%, there will be some points deducted from your final grade since you did the quiz twice.

THIS MEANS you really need to pay attention when you are taking a QUIZ on Khan because it is a graded quiz and not like homeworK( which you can repeat until you master) and you will only get 2 ATTEMPTS. I hope this makes sense. Please email me if you have questions.

PS. I am not counting the first quiz since we are all learning and I was't clear on the directions about this.

A shout out to Thuyan, Isabella, Jacob, and Lily who did wonderful on their quizzes. Keep up the hard work. You ALL can do it.

SO TODAY . . .

Analyzing Data is easy right? Having fun yet? Again yes the videos can be dull, especially the monotone - good english vocabulary word for you meaning always speaking at one pitch- but oh how much you are learning! Miss you. Today, more on data displays, you can learn so much from them and you see or hear of them everyday in the real world. Today should be a refresher since you learned about these types of graphs last year. How good are you at remembering? I hope you are at least good at learning. See the attached comic.

Objective: I can create and read histograms and stem and leaf plots.

Assignment: Watch the four videos and complete the three practice exercises. Monday you will begin with a short review before your quiz on all the types of data displays we have looked at so far.

Check In: Find me in Google Hangouts if you need me between 10-12.

Have a good weekend.

Due:

Scatter Plot Quiz and Frequency Tables and Dot Plots in Google Classroom

Scatter Plot Quiz and Frequency Tables and Dot Plots

First watch my video explaining choosing the appropriate scatter plot as it seems many of you struggled with that exercise.

Today you will take your quiz. Take a moment to review your practice exercises, then put everything away and complete the quiz. Title your paper Data and Statistics Quiz 1 and SHOW ALL WORK. When you are done you will ATTACH a picture of your work using the ADD (paperclip) button below on this assignment. Let me know if you have trouble. You can always just email it directly to me.

Remember, the quiz is YOUR and YOUR WORK ALONE, without anyone else's help or the use of your notes. I am expecting that you will HONESTLY complete the quiz Good luck. Also remember you need TO SHOW ALL WORK FOR FULL CREDIT.

After the quiz. Wait did you remember to turn in a photo of your quiz? Good .
Then move on to the next lesson. This unit is all about displaying data. Gathering information from surveys or experiments and displaying it in a way that makes it meaningful. Is Khan making sense? His voice is a bit dull and I am sure you miss mine.

Objective: I can create, read, and frequency tables and data plots.

Assignment: Watch the two videos and complete the three practice exercises.

Check In: Find me in Google Hangouts if you need me between 10-12. I am working on a way to do a Zoom conference during that time so that we can talk to each other in real time and I can do problems on my screen for you all to see.

Due:

Scatter Plots in Google Classroom

Scatter Plots

Ready or not here we Go. We are off to new places . . . and today is the day. This will be an adventure for us all. Please feel free to let me know how everything is going and if you feel I need to adjust things. Remember, this is a first for all of us. So here we go, for our first day we are going to follow up on the last two days of classwork in which we discussed scatter plots. Then we will move on to creating, reading, and interpreting other types of data displays. What fun we shall have :)

For all of your work during this time please keep it organized in your math notebook. Title each day with the Daily Learning Objective and Date and then when doing the practice exercises title the exercise and show any work you did in your notebook just as you would with homework. Start each day on a new page of your notebook. Please be extra NEAT so I can check it.

Objective: I can create, read, and interpret scatter plots.

Assignment: Watch the 2 videos to review your understanding of scatter plots in preparation for a quiz tomorrow. Then complete the 4 exercises and two article exercises. You will have a short quiz on them tomorrow before we begin our new lesson.

Check In: Find me in Google Hangouts if you need me between 10 and 12.
