We need a cover for our class book! So, our class is having a contest! Here are the requirements for the contest:

Artwork needs to be in full color, and a final-copy version (no pencil-sketch lines showing, paper not wrinkled or torn, etc).
Artwork needs to be either a clear, close-up picture; a digital version (like using MS Paint or Adobe Sketch); or a scanned copy. PDF or JPG are both acceptable document types.
Artwork needs to include the title: I Survived the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020.
Work needs to be creative, neat, and colorful.
If you draw on paper, it needs to be regular white 8 1/2 by 11 inch copy paper.
Cover must be in portrait mode.
All artwork must be uploaded here (no emails) no later than Friday, May 15th.

You will turn in this assignment ON PAPER. If You need to complete this assignment, I will give you the paper. These are the problems we did in class today. You need to do this assignment if you made one or more errors

Follow the directions in the Google Doc.

Click the test for your group. Use complete sentences. Make sure I can understand the words you type (spelling doesn't count - I just have to be able to understand it). EXPLAIN your thinking!!! You may not use the book on this test.

We will review the answers to these questions during Literature Circle on Monday and Tuesday, in preparation for the test on Wednesday, 2/5/2020.

Make a COPY of your draft. Title it YOUR NAME Mission Report. Proofread and edit it to make sure it includes all of the required information (see the attached rubric) and there are no errors. Insert at least three (3) images of your mission. Attach your published copy here. This is due by Tuesday, January 28th.

You may use this template to start writing your mission report.
The FIRST TWO PARAGRAPHS are due on Tuesday.

Add a document for your Animal Report.
Make sure you have a TITLE PAGE with the name of the animal, your name, and a picture of the animal.
Make sure you have a good "hook" in the opening paragraph.
Make sure you have a good closing paragraph.
Make sure there are no spelling, grammar, capitalization, or punctuation errors.
Make sure your paragraphs follow the format in your outline.

Finish the story. Read the directions CAREFULLY.

You have until Monday at the end of class to finish this (since Mr. D said he might be taking you for Mass practice today).

Do the test for YOUR book

These can be rewards like "no homework for a day," "no homework for a week," "new books for the classroom library," "movie party," "nacho party," "extra recess for one day," "extra recess for one week," etc. Be creative, but be reasonable (Mr. Kruska has the final say in our class rewards!)

Use complete sentences to explain your answer. Try to give evidence from the text (the book). Then, respond to one classmate's answer. Do not just say "good job" or "I agree" - actually think about their answer and tell WHY you agree or disagree.

Type up a rough draft of your animal report. Use your outline. Make sure to use COMPLETE SENTENCES and PARAGRAPHS.

Complete the assignment. Use the "speaker notes" for directions. If you cannot see them, you may ask a friend (using your WHISPER VOICE) for help. If you both cannot figure it out, you can come see me.

I suggest you ask your family if they have a special attachment to a mission. You do NOT have to visit the mission for this project (but it could be a fun experience!) Please do not just choose Mission San Fernando because it is close; there are 20 other missions with fascinating histories to research!

Please choose a mission by next Wednesday (so on Thursday you are prepared to get a mission book from the school library).

Use your research to complete the outline. The more detail you include here (in your own words!!) the easier your report will be to write :)

Work with your team to complete the scavenger hunt!

Use your research graphic organizer to outline your report. Use the outline template I gave you. Answer each question in the template, in order, and you've basically written your report! :)

Use the attached Doc to record your research. Use the attached links to research your chosen saint.
