Weathering Lab in Google Classroom

Weathering Lab

For today's lab, you have some options. The link below will let you do the most for the lab; it might not, however, work for some people because it's kind of an old site. It uses Flash, which is not always compatible with today's computers.

If you use the website in the link, use the pdf beneath it to complete the lab. You can do your data table as well as discussion and conclusion question answers on a piece of paper or a Doc; just remember to attach your work before you submit.

IF THE WEBSITE DOESN'T WORK, watch the movie (you can pause it). Fill out your data table and answer the questions on a paper; upload a picture and turn it in.

Introduction to Erosion and Deposition

Spend today filling out your study guide for Chapter 8, Lesson 2. Upload your work before you turn it in via scan or paper. You can print it out or use paper to copy what it says. I think a Google Doc would be hard to make to fill in all the information, so let's stick to paper for this one, unless you can make the pdf editable.

(I attached the pdf of the study guide, but it's the same one as last lesson--it's got the whole chapter in it--so you don't have to reprint it if you still have your copy.)

Either way, hang onto it, because you know I'm going to be changing and adding stuff as we read through the chapter!

Due:

8.1 Quiz in Google Classroom

8.1 Quiz

Take the quiz. Good luck! Take your time!

Due:

Penny Lab in Google Classroom

Penny Lab

Hi! Hopefully you've got your pennies from Friday. One should have been just chilling, and the other one was taking a looooong weekend bath in vinegar.

To do the lab:

1. Pull the penny out of the vinegar and put it next to (but not touching!) the normal penny on a paper towel or hand towel or something so you don't make a vinegar puddle.

2. Answer the questions on the attached Google Doc. You can type write on the Doc, or take a picture of the work you've done on a paper.

3. Attach a picture of your pennies!

Don't forget to turn in your work.

Due:

Lab Preparation in Google Classroom

Lab Preparation

Two assignments in one day? Man!

...sorry. You have a lab on Monday (yay!), but that means you need to do some preparation over the weekend.

Don't worry! You don't need your lab notebooks for this one, just a piece of paper (you could even do a Doc Monday if you want).

What you need to do today:

Get two pennies.

Keep one safe somewhere, and put the other on in a cup (paper or plastic recyclable if you have one; it might stain a glass). Pour enough vinegar (about half a cup) into the cup to cover the penny. Mix in about a teaspoon of salt until it's dissolved. (You might need to take the penny out for a bit until the salt is all mixed, then put it back in.)

Let the penny sit in the vinegar someplace safe until Monday.

Once you've got your pennies set up, turn in this assignment. (You don't need to attach a picture or anything unless you want to.)

Email me today by 2 if you have trouble setting up your experiment.

Due:

Turn to p. 341 in your book.

The answers to this review will be posted at 2:05 today, after this assignment is due. Please use the answers to correct your work so that you are studying the correct thing for the quiz on Tuesday!
