Sacramental Preparation

St. Joseph the Worker School is part of a larger community of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish Community.
We follow the guidelines for sacramental preparation as outlined in the
National Directory for Catechesis and mandated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

We know that the liturgical life of the Church revolves around the sacraments, with the Eucharist at the center.  The church celebrates seven sacraments:

  • Baptism
  • Penance/First Reconciliation
  • Holy Eucharist/First Holy Communion
  • Holy Spirit/Confirmation
  • Holy Orders
  • Matrimony
  • Anointing of the Sick

Our second graders receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Students in grades 3-8 may also receive these Sacraments.

Sacramental catechesis involves parents in the preparation of their children for the sacraments.

It is absolutely essential that parents bring their child/ren to weekly Mass,

to experience the Eucharistic mystery in an initial way so they can

gradually learn to join with their community of faith in prayer.
