About Mrs. Spissman
I have the privilege of not only being a Catholic school graduate, but also a Catholic school teacher and parent! I attended St. Brendan’s Elementary School in Los Angeles and Marymount High School in Westwood. I went on to UCLA graduating with a double major in Psychology and Communication Studies and obtained my credential at CSUN. I loved volunteering as a tutor and a Religious Education teacher at local schools so much, that I continued that love of teaching and sharing of my faith by becoming the Fifth Grade teacher at Our Lady of Talpa School in Los Angeles in 1995. Shortly after relocating to the San Fernando Valley, I began teaching Second Grade at St. Joseph the Worker School in 2002. After a hiatus from teaching to stay at home with my three daughters, Kate, Emma and Lily, I returned to St. Joseph the Worker as the First Grade teacher in 2011. My own daughters also attend “St. Joe’s” and are carrying on the tradition of going to a Catholic school. I feel very blessed that my parents sacrificed to make sure my sisters and I received the best education possible by sending us to Catholic school for 12 years. It is now my turn to share that same education of faith, academics and service with not only my daughters, but also to the students in my classroom. .
I am also the STEP (Support Team Education Plan) coordinator assisting teachers, parents and students when a student needs support in the classroom. In addition, I am the faculty moderator along with Ms. Guilbault of the Bake Club. We meet twice a month baking and cooking yummy treats like Easter dirt cake and make your own paninis! I am also blessed to be a Eucharistic Minister sharing the Holy Eucharist with the St. Joseph the Worker faith community.
